and the Pillars Behind Our Master Artist
Genesis Emmons
Entrepreneur | Founder | Master Tailor & Artist
You can go to any seamstress to get your wedding gown adjusted. Or you can go to an artist to get transformed. —Genesis Emmons
Born in Corona, Genesis left California at a very young age and grew up in four different states. As a young adult, she eventually landed in Dallas, Texas and worked for the fashion retailer Nordstrom.
It wasn’t until 2002 where a window of opportunity had opened up for her in the alterations of Nordstrom. She trained full time and developed her sewing skills into becoming a professional tailor, while simultaneously attending fashion school full time.
Being a non-conformist in her creative passions and pursuits, once Genesis had
graduated from fashion school, she simultaneously retired from Nordstrom to begin her freelance career working from home. This is where she ‘accidentally fell into bridal’ as she has stated.
One of her early customers showed up with a dress, unbeknownst to her it was a Maggie Sottero wedding gown. Genesis was fascinated by all of the elements and fine details that the gown had on it, but because she did not have any experience with wedding gowns, she regrettably declined her alteration service to the customer who was a bride.
Providentially, Genesis’ reputation of tailoring special occasion dresses followed her beyond Nordstrom. The bride was not willing to walk away and Genesis was willing to take on a risk… And the rest became history!
By 2015, Genesis finally returned home to Southern California where she began to experiment as a “mobile” seamstress in the vast space of the bridal industry. By 2017, she founded her first LLC, which was formerly known as SewCalPros. She had originally chosen that name because it deeply connected with her having great pride to be a Californian again and having become a professional (master) of sewing, which was her life’s greatest passion.
As she recalled having made countless mistakes and unforgettable errors as a new business owner, she embraced those life-altering experiences as an entrepreneur so she could begin to understand that her endowments could only get her so far. She realized that every step along the way in her career must be done in love and she ultimately had to surrender to it. Hence, the birth of LoveSewTrue.
The bridal industry is an emotional industry. If we take ourselves too seriously, then who will take care of the brides? —Genesis Emmons

Sewing Background:
My grandma taught me how to hand sew when I was young which got me first interested in sewing. I went to Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising for merchandise product development and while in my studies, I made costumes for clients.
Then I attended International Academy of Design & Technology for fashion design where I began debuting my designs on runway. Lastly, I attended Stratford Institute for pattern and dressmaking that led to my interest in bridal. I love this craft and continue my knowledge of the art with LoveSewTrue.

Sewing Background:
I started my sewing journey just before middle school making clothes for my old American Girl dolls. I was completely self-taught as I learned through YouTube videos until I started my Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design at Cal State Long Beach.
I learned enough that allowed me to land a position in “bridal,” which truly enhanced my skills and knowledge tenfold.

Sewing Background:
My sewing journey began in high school when my mom gifted me her sewing machine. It was then that I decided to pursue fashion as a career, and I’m currently working toward completing my associate’s degree in fashion design.
Over the years, I’ve learned so much and I’m excited to continue expanding my sewing skills in bridal.
