 FAQs

  • A bustle is a technique created for upholding the train on a wedding gown. Although there are several different kinds of bustling styles, the main purpose is so that you don’t have to worry about guests stepping on your dress during the reception. You should only bustle your dress after the ceremony and right before the reception, ideally ready for the first dance.

  • Yes! We can do zip-up to lace-up conversions as this is a very popular request for not only fit, but for style as well.

  • Whether we need to take a dress in to make it smaller or let a dress out to make it bigger, regardless it’s the same process of removing all elements on the dress before performing the alteration and then we put those elements back on once the alteration is complete.

  • It is really up to your preference whenever you would like to get started. Please keep in mind that even though we offer quick turnarounds for completing dress alterations, we recommend getting started no later than 6 weeks from your wedding day. For custom additions to your dress, we may need more than 6 weeks.

  • Not to worry. The most common alteration suggested for expecting brides is to make their dress adjustable as with a corset lace-up back. This adjustability gives uber comfort in sizing options as needed throughout the course of your big day.

  • Yes. We make sure to keep all remnants that have been cut off so that we may give them back to you. We do this as many brides consider using their fabric for other essentials. For example, you may want to wrap your bouquet with the lace fabric that was cut off from the skirt hem of your dress.

Terms of Service for Booking:

Due to the high demand of our popular service, we cannot hold appointment dates/times for Brides prior to processing a $250 (non-refundable) deposit. We recommend processing the deposit as soon as possible to avoid forfeiting your preferred date/time. Your appointment will be confirmed via text message once your deposit has been processed and received.

Rescheduling or postponing an appointment will not forfeit the deposit. However, please contact us as soon as you are aware of a potential conflict with your scheduled appointment date/time so we can assist in rescheduling immediately.

Your deposit will be applied towards the alterations ticket at your first fitting and payment for the remaining balance is due in full that same day. We accept cash, debit/credit card, or Zelle® transfer.

Due to liability constraints, we cannot work on your gown until the payment has been made. Consequently, we cannot cut or modify your property until a monetary transaction has taken place, which represents your permission given to us.

Hours of Operation:

WE ARE OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.

Our “fitting” schedule operates between the hours of 8AM-7PM Tuesday through Saturday. We do not have Fitters available on Sundays or Mondays.

Please first confirm that your schedule corresponds with our schedule before booking your appointment with us.

Fitting Sessions:

Standard Alterations – Most Brides will average 4 fittings and we require Brides to have availability in their schedule should they need to fulfill all 4 fittings.

Custom Alterations – Most Brides will average 6 fittings and we require Brides to have availability in their schedule should they need to fulfill all 6 fittings.

Appointment Duration:

First Fitting: 90 Minutes
Subsequent Fittings: 30-60 Minutes

Off-the-Rack or Pre-Owned Gowns:

For hygienic purposes, soiled gowns are required to be dry cleaned before starting the alterations. Your gown will be inspected upon arrival at your first fitting.

If your gown is not clean, we will have to reschedule your appointment. Rescheduling fees and/or rush fees will apply as necessary.

Regarding storage…gowns that have “age” to them and/or have been stored away for a long period of time are subjected to turning yellowish in color.

Lace gowns are the most common because textile manufacturers bathe the fabrics in chemicals to achieve a certain kind of distinction within their process.

With age, the chemicals on fabrics are slowly oxidized by air, which means that a chemical reaction has occurred. Hence, a yellow “stain.”

We are not responsible for this outcome, should it occur while your gown is being stored inside our studio.

Postponement/Cancellation & Gown Storage:

Upon receiving notification of your event, there will be a 7-day grace period for picking up your gown.

Beyond the grace period, $10 per day will be charged for storing your gown in our studio.

All personal property [gowns/garments] not claimed within 60 days from the first date of notification will become property of LoveSewTrue thereafter.

[Post-Wedding] Gown Repairs:

Once you’ve tied the knot, we are still on standby to help you with repairing your gown, no matter what it needs.

All consultations, fittings, and sewing fees apply as normal.

Are you ready to get transformed?

You are just one choice away from experiencing the full potential of your dream dress.
